Mission Statement
The mission of the Teacher Training 200 Program is to:
- Prepare you to teach Hatha yoga classes from beginners up through Level 2;
- Facilitate deep inquiry into the practice and the teaching of yoga;
- Help you find and explore the path of yoga best suited to the person you are and to the teacher you are becoming.
Books, etc.
Required Materials include:
- Yoga: The Spirit and Practice of Mving into Stillness by Erich Schiffman
- The Breathing Book by Donna Farhi
- Anusara Yoga Teacher Training Manual by John Friend
- Yoga Anatomy by Leslie Kaminoff
- Yoga: The Alpha and the Omega by Osho (Audio discourses on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali)
More About the Program
You will learn alignment principles and alignment terminology of Iyengar and Anusara Yoga.
You will learn how to teach to raw beginners as well as to those with yoga experience.
You will learn Yoga philosophy & history, with emphasis on the relationships among Classical (Yoga Sutras of Patanjali), Vedanta (Shankara), and Tantra (Osho, ParaYoga, Anusara) theory and practice.
You will learn how to live courageously from your own SvaDharma, your own wisdom, in order to fulfill your destiny path. We will study this message in the Bhagavad Gita.
This program is student-centered, rather than tradition-specific. Teaching yoga is, fundamentally, an expression of your personal experience- not only your experience on the yoga mat but also your experience of life, of being with people, and of communicating as a teacher. Creativity and personal exploration will be encouraged as you develop your practice and your teaching.
— Billy Ospensko, 2006
Even if you have no intention to teach, yet desire a deeper understanding of yoga, this program will enrich your yoga and your life. We will cover all the facets of yoga that a regular asana class seldom touches on, such as: the history and philosophy of yoga; anatomy and physiology of yoga—Western and Eastern versions; and teaching as the yoga of language.
— Don Boomgaarten, 2003

How do you thank someone for helping you connect with how to be in the moment and giving you the means to form your life to paths of play and experience. Thank you my teacher, my friend, Joseph Roberson!
I compare my yoga journey to a snowball that starts small at the top of a hill and slowly gets larger and faster as it goes down the hill. My yoga snowball began at the top of its hihll beginning in 2001, with very little momentum. Being an engineer, I really thought I was 'doing it wrong' because I didn't understand all the nuances of each posture. I would ask so many questions just trying to 'get it.' With patience and understanding of where i was in my journey, Joseph would answer to level i needed and trust that my exploration would take me where I was to go.
Here I am three years later, more myself than I was. To quote Joseph, I am 'getting out of my own way.' Joseph and I have been through Level 1, multiple Level 2's, Pranayama & Meditation and now Yoga Teacher Training with exposure to Kundalini Yoga. It's all great!
When situations are difficult now, I go within. I breathe. I find compassion for myself and for others. I attempt to keep my life simple. I am finding patience, where i do not have to try to fix and control everything.
Through it all, Joseph has been and continues to be my support. Hhis technical knowledge and abilities are awesome. I told him once that he would be uncomfortable in anyone else's body. His skills show his intense dedication to the asanas. He inspires me to push my edge. He has tremendous openness to explore the different styles and nuances that yoga offers and offers them to those of us interested. He offers training in not only the basic asanas, but opens our world to Pranayama, Kundalini and Dynamic Rhythms. He inspires and teaches simply through the way he lives his life, without forcing or pontificating.
My snowball is HUGE and picking up momentum every day! So many more wonders to explore!
I cannot thank you enough!
Sincerely,
Jennifer Hinchey, 2005
